Direct Entry - Naval Police.

My thought process is I like the work, I'm already mostly skilled in the trade, money is okay and I'd be around people similar to my age just starting, hopefully make some good mates and get involved with a load of sports outside my shifts.

I can understand why regulators aren't popular but is it really so far as people exclude them from other activities etc?
Pretty much the same as a civie police officer
While not been excluded from any activities you will find many people will not trust you as they will expect that if they open up about some things they will find themselves in Da Sh1t

I was chatting to a Cambs Police Sgt at Armed Forces Day on Saturday and he told me during his training he had a Pongo, A Crab, a Wafu and a Reggie in his dorm.

They all got on really well, but none of them trusted the reggie, even him and he had never been in the forces!!

I'm currently with the MOD Police and I have been looking at the RN Police as a potential move. I have looked at the RN site and cannot seem to find anything on direct entry!?

I will have a chat with my local AFCO soon, but can anyone shed some light on the process?

Yep, as long as they have an Engineering or Science degree, basic numeracy and literacy skills, a total of around 20-30 fingers and toes and an AIB pass, they're pretty much in.

Oh, and there's a £27,000 joining bounty.
Thanks Ninja, appreciate the info! I will look into this in more detail.

The £27k joining bounty....... I assume this is for service personnel only?

That is a bit cynical, cannot bribe a copper but they can bribe you to join, giving it a different name does not make it smell any better.

I suppose £27k is not a lot of money when you consider that many of your current friends will find that they are unable to trust you.
In the old days reggies had a job to do, they had their own mess and generally kept to themselves.
Having said that I still managed to remain and trust a few of them, especially my old mate Twiggy Parry who was a Joss at Yeovilton. definitelly a poacher turned gamekeeper.;)

imagine the banter an AB reggie is going to get in the mess.
wowzers
Odds are they'll be accommodated with Leading Hand Police and they'll be Leading Rates themselves within 15-24 months of finishing their initial training anyway. I wonder if they'll get a sea draft as an AB, to be honest.

They are definitely going to sea as ABs. They will rotate around departments before going on to complete their "specialist" training. Can't remember how long they are at sea for but I do remember reading the RNTM about it whilst bored in the office.
