Differences between RMR and other reserve "infantry" units?

#1
I know what the RM & RMR do and what various parts of the TA do, but as someone in the process of joining the RMR, what can I expect thats hugely different from the TA?

I ask because I keep come across the RM being referred to as "the navy's infantry", when, as far as I was aware, there is a significant difference surely between infantry and the RM(R)?

I know quite a few people in the TA and it seems they are very much not the real deal (compared to their parent units), whereas RMR seems a lot more readily deployable and a lot more likely to slot into the regular RM?

So is there anything I might get the chance of doing in training or general time in the RMR I would never get the chance of in the TA?

Call me ignorant, but I always thought RM WERE infantry, albeit special.
