Dickens Class Minesweeper

I'm trying to find the identity of a Dickens Class Minesweeper that is now a scuba diving attraction at the
bottom of Capernwray Dive Centre, Jackdaw Quarry, near Carnforth. I gather it will have a Dickens character
name as they all did. It is now known as the Podsnap.

I believe it was purchased at Glassen Dock in Liverpool some time ago by the son of one
of the former crew, and then sold to Capernwray Dive Centre.

Does anyone have any information about it?

Many thanks for any help

According to:
Its Podsnap (apparently from 'Our Mutual Friend')
It was built for the Royal Army Service Corps (RASC)

That's brilliant, thank you. I had no idea I would get such a useful response. They say in Capernwray that it
is a mine sweeper used in WW2. Do you know if this is accurate at all?

If you trawl through this site, about half way down, there is a mention of the Motor Boat Companies.
Edited to add:
They were run by the Army, Royal Army Supply Corps (RASC) a forerunner of the Royal Corps of Transport now the Royal Logistics Corps. Hence not a sweeper.

Brilliant thanks. Was Podsnap the original name? It mentions Snodgrass on the picture link you kindly shared, but I'm not sure if it is referring to the same vessel. Snodgrass, it appears was built or launched in 1946 so would have played no part in the war year. I was trying to figure out whether Podsnap played any role in WW2

The dive site says she was built in 1944, (sorry put wrong link in original post, but have amended). Snodgrass is a different vessel.
The 'Forgotten Fleet' site describes the Dickens Class as 'General Service Launches'.
The Podsnap mentioned on this site may be one and the same.:
I think this could be the same vessel. If it was listed in Lloyds Registers at some point there will be a build date, but as all archives are currently closed, I'll have to wait. The National Archives appear to have a purchase document from the HRS for Podsnap, so that probably has a build date on it too. Because Podsnap is not listed in the Dickens Class II list, it seems it could be Dickens Class I, and therefore built during the war (maybe 1944 as Capernwray state on their site). I spoke to them and they had little idea of Podsnap's actual history however.

Some good photos here:

Or if you want to buy one (pictures give an idea of what they look like inside)

That's great thanks. I have a few photos of my own from dives I've done there. It's the first thing I saw underwater that made me think 'wow'. The dimensions from the boat for sale are useful thanks.
