Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. This decoration was featured on another site dealing specifically with medals and militaria, but none of the members were able to identify it. Would anyone here be able to provide any information?

    Cheers,
    Dan.

The actual "medal" design is taken from an RM pith helmet plate, with Queens crown atop.

Best bet? The OAMAAM forum: http://civviestreet.proboards.com/

Here's one with the King's crown without the moggy:

Back of this Royal Marines Medal reads: "Royal Marine School Chatham for Regular Attendance during 1920"

  3. As always, thank you. Based on what you've provided I've been able to do some follow up and everything I've found is leading me to think that it's a shooting medal.

    Cheers,
    Dan.

  4. Exspy,

This is indeed a shooting medal, I remember these from the early 80's being issued to the RMR at Altcar for team winners at the RMRSAAM.
