Dartmouth Training

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I was wondering if any Officers (especially those fresh from Dartmouth)would be willing to give me a bit more in depth information regarding the training at Dartmouth. I am starting later on this year and would like to be as prepared as I can before I go down. I have obviously read through the Navy website, however I am sure you will agree it is a bit vague on the details. I am going into engineering, so if there are any engineering officers on here that would be even better if they could give me a summary of the training involved. For example, what are the academic classes like? Is there anything in particular that it would be beneficial to go over before joining?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Start with the basics on http://www.britannia.ac.uk/ and http://www.royal-navy.mod.uk/server/show/nav.3369

Other simple advice includes get fit, learn to use an iron, brush up on your english (written skills) if you need to, become more aware of the role of the RN (worldwide) & maintain your sense of humour. The training does not last that long in the grand scheme of things.

    Good luck and enjoy!
