Apparently he had business trouble, on top of this he had a massive arguement with other taxi drivers last night & appeared to have been the but of most taxi driver jokes

Good luck getting one if your in Whitehaven.

But seriously, shocking news. RIP to those killed and condolences to families.

It is truly a tragedy, but how long will it be before some twonk demands everyone hands in their ´lethal´shotguns? Bit like pistols after Dunblane.

No doubt some tree hugging urban 'Twonk' will, proberly just to get their own 15 min's of fame. Most of the farmer's I know up here all have fire arms (Properly stored of course) so if they do want to ban them I'd say the Carlisle Police Station would soon have a armoury to rival your average Pongo's Barracks. Lots of Why questions being asked locally with no prospect of any decent answers. On top of last months School Bus crash and the recent flooding it would seem Cumbria is not having much luck at the minute. I wonder if Foot and Mouth is just around the corner!

I had to give up my favourite past time of pistol shooting because of the Dunblane massacre. This was the worst tragedy imaginable so the ban was inevitable.
I didn't mind although it stopped genuine shooters enjoying a past time and it was the fault of the Police who granted this twat a gun licence, but, is it the answer?
Who authorised the Hungerford twat to have AK47's?
I did a lot of shooting at the Warminister range with black powder my favourite type of shooting.
Point is, because I was working in the club business and living in a flat I was happy for the range to lock my guns up in their armoury.
I think we should look at this option before we start a knee jerk ban on all guns unless you are a farmer or Clay pigeon specialist shooter.
Better policing on the issue of firearms is a more valid way.

I am loving the Ban all guns out rage bus going on. Not on here though

One guy loses it and all legal gun owners should be penalised?

One drunk driver kills people in a mass pile up and no other drivers get punished? How does that work?

Sorry I'm just laughing at people's mentality

As much as I can see the argument that it is the man and not the gun that kills, the fact is guns are designed as tools for killing stuff and they do a pretty good job of it most of the time. As long as guns exist people will go on mental rampages with them. I'm not saying guns should be banned, I'd be out of a job for one thing, but I am saying that without a doubt, this will happen again.

Many will disagree with me when I say that I think the restrictions on pistol and assault rifles in this Country are a good thing, imagine how much more damage this nutter could have done if he had gone out yesterday equipped with an AK and a 9mm pistol.

Oh I don't disagree with you fella. It will no doubt in the future happen once more. But how often has it acutally happened in this country?

Hand pistols are banned but has that stopped illegal handguns being used? Not really.

I do think the restrictions on the various guns are a good thing, not everyone can get hold of a section one firearms licence, nor can everyone get hold of shotgun. I'm quite glad we've got the 2nd toughest gun laws in the world one behind Japan. I just think crying for a ban on all guns is pointless and just not going to be worth because of the very occassional random shooting spree we get in this country.

If he didn't have a gun he would've no doubt found something else to try and cause death to people with. His taxi for instance.
