Criminal Records and Enlistment?

#1
Hi,

Just curious if anyone knows what are considered bar-able criminal offenses for the RMC?

I have two fairly minor convictions (1 financial crime and a simple assault [non-domestic]) in the USA of which sentences and stipulations of have been served in entirety. I am looking to join as a NCM.

Really hoping this nause won't continue to haunt me...

I appreciate any insight you can give!

Thank you for your time.

Presuming you mean Royal Marines Corps & joining as a Non-Commissioned Marine, your best bet is to get in touch with the overseas desk at London Careers Office for clarification:
LONDON AFCO
I called the recruiter who initially contacted me (because the AFCO you linked me had already closed for the day), and they directed me to this clause on the website which has me hopeful:

Criminal Record

* If you are awaiting a court appearance, in any other capacity other than as a witness, you may not be eligible to apply until the outcome of the hearing is known. Please check with your Armed Forces Careers Office.
* Spent and unspent convictions (including prison, young offenders institution or probation) for certain types of offence may mean that you are ineligible to apply for entry into certain branches or trades within the Armed Forces. If you have any doubts about which branches or trades fall into the above categories, please seek advice.
* Ex-Servicemen or Servicewomen discharged for disciplinary reasons will be ineligible to re-enter.
Other than that they said the overseas desk is 02073053314, but that number is disconnected. I will try the London AFCO tomorrow morning like you said and keep this updated for anyone else curious.
