Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. The Pusser used to make you think on your feet... I managed to write off a lot of stuff from my section chief’s PLR and all my arctic clothing when the Atlantic Conveyor went down... without leaving Yeovilton. Talking to people since 1982 she had to be a blooming big ship!
  2. Apparently when the Nottingham ran aground lots and lots of stuff was written off.

It's a real shame (for the insurance company) that they used 3D mess as the entire ship's company laptop/camera/ipod/expensive electrical goods, stowage as well.
  3. As someone who was on a self victualled ship for a brace of years I have no idea what the term means.
  4. Creative accounting ? It's what us Jack Dusties used to do best !! How else could you write off 3 diving suits as rubber packing to seal a leak in the stern gland that the Chief Tiff couldn't remember, but the Diving Officer, the MEO and the Skipper could ? (They signed the chit !!)
