Countdown to 70th Anniversary of D-Day landings

Good stuff from the Navy News Facebook page:

To mark the 70th anniversary of the Normandy landings we've uploaded the two special anniversary supplements compiled by our editor Mike Gray published in our May and June 2014 editions. They feature unique first-hand accounts of the Royal Navy's role in the invasion of Normandy, photographs, maps and stunning graphics of landing craft and the Mulberry Harbours specially drawn by our graphics artist Andy Brady.

7pm last night. Dakota, Hurricaine and Spitfire stooging around the Needles - would have made a wonderful picture against the "black" rain clouds coming in from the West ... but as usual camera not available! Hope to see some more of them today.

14.23 and no doubt that the 1000,s watching the events at Pompey have been thrilled by the Red Arrows display, themselves having their 50th anniversary. Even the anti crab brigade might appreciate it, as HMS Bulwark gets ready to leave for the French coast.

Would love to be there. I see the Bulwark and Richmond are doing circles off the Isle White with he BNS Crocus and HMLMS Johan De Witt ready for tomorrow. Will be an emotional day for all involved .
