"A man is hoping to find the owner of a Royal Navy Iraq war memorial coin he discovered on Gyllyngvase beach.

Roger Crow found the large coin close to the café and lifebuoy on the popular Falmouth beach earlier this month.

It bears the crest of HMS Seahawk, the ship name for Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose at Helston, and was specially ordered by the station’s Warrant Officers’ and Senior Rates’ Mess.

On the reverse is marked the date of March 22, 2018, for a mess dinner to remember the 15 anniversary of the start of Operation Telic, the codename for operations in Iraq.

While the coin is in itself worthless, Mr Crow thought it might have some sentimental value and wanted to reunite it with its owner.

He kindly handed the coin in to staff at RNAS Culdrose although.

The owner is asked to contact RNAS Culdrose by email to [email protected]
