Remember the motto.@redmonkey thank you for that message. It was very informative. You should write for the royal navy website instead of those vague short paragraphs that they give you! The more I head, the better it sounds. Direct entry aircrewman is definately what I will go for.
Or when it’s quiz night! Boooooo.Rough flying cancelled???????
Never on my flights.
Bad weather usually went like this!
'The Upper Deck is out of bounds'.
'Hands to Flying Stations'.
And I guarantee, it was just when the movie started!!!!!
Minor doubts are normal no matter what you do - the unknown - plenty of good advice from the previous posters, follow your dream you won't be sorry and you'll never wonder what if if you don't..Yeah I am certain it is the right role for me. Just some minor doubts because it's a massive decision. All through the past few months of research it has stood out more than any other.
I'm definately looking forward to starting the journey. Cheers for the help.Remember the motto.
Fail to Prepare. - Prepare to Fail.
Good luck. It's a long road but well worth it. Trust me, I walked that road!!
Very true. Better to try and not like it than to not try at all. However by the sound of it, I think I'll like it.Minor doubts are normal no matter what you do - the unknown - plenty of good advice from the previous posters, follow your dream you won't be sorry and you'll never wonder what if if you don't..
It definately is!My PO AcMN has plenty of sea time if that's any reassurance.
Any aircrew related questions, message me. I still have a few contacts in the branch at senior level who may be able to assist in current matters.I'm definately looking forward to starting the journey. Cheers for the help.
So did this one!!!!!My PO AcMN has plenty of sea time if that's any reassurance.
Nice one mate I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.Any aircrew related questions, message me. I still have a few contacts in the branch at senior level who may be able to assist in current matters.
No, no, NO - Been there, done that! Signed on age 17 (at Recruiting Office) as an Apprentice Tiff, went off the idea and joined up as a Seaman. 23 years later went out as a Chief Tiff! Full circle and loved (almost) every minute. However, as already stated, times change and I was lucky. It doesn't happen much now.Good point. I've never been certain on what I want to do with my life. Joining the navy as an aircrewman is the closest I've ever come to being sure. I know I want to be in the navy however. One thing I'm sort of considering is joining as a seaman specialist or warfare specialist and transferring. I know this probably sounds stupid and maybe isn't even possible but I do want a varied career. However I know that whatever I choose in the navy it will be varied (aircrewman especially). I am still yet to pass my FATs. I've never had a problem with exams however it is still possible I will not have the aptitude. If so I will join as a surface fleet role. One question, as a commando aircrewman, is there chance of being deployed to active war zones to cover troops etc. I've heard this is possible but is it probable?
So many pilots yet so few aviators!!!No, no, NO - Been there, done that! GO CREWMAN - probably get loads of girls too - without having to lie about your job!
You missed out the Chef's training! So many pilots yet so few aviators!!!![]()
Plus they issue you with Gucci sun glasses, flying boots and the whitest pig skin gloves in the universe!! (White for a day anyway!!). A nice set of posing coveralls and a life time subscription to 'Cool Dudes'. LOL
The only downside, if there is one, is the Flying Extra Pay is non pensionable unlike our cousins in light blue!!!! (Another reason to dislike crabs).
Damn!!!You missed out the Chef's training!
