The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I recieved my letter this morning confirming the time and date of my RT test its on the 28th of july 8.45 in liverpool :)

I have the practise booklet and have already been practising before hand, i have applied for Warfare spec, what sort of pass mark would i need? also if a number of people are also applying for warfare spec does the highest scores pass or will everyone pass?

You should aim to score 100% (with about 50% minimum) because the higher the score, the more jobs are available.

All those that score high enough, providing they pass all elements of selection, will be allocated joining dates on a first come, first served basis- places for Ratings are not allocated on merit based scores.
  3. Just to back up what Ninja says. You really should aim to get as much as possible. Around about 50% will get you in as a WS, but the more marks you score the better it will look and potentially the more jobs you could do.

Best of luck and do as much practice as you can

  4. just out of curiosity, say someone applied as SS and second choice as WS but there RT score was above average would an alternate be offered? or just the jobs they applied for?
  5. We will normally offer you the jobs you've asked for. However, if you do really well then the careers advisor may then counsel you about other opportunities.

Contrary to popular belief, we don't deliberately counsel individuals toward shortage category trades (Typically Submarine specialisations & less popular GS trades) however if someone does particularly well we will tell them they could join in a more technically orientated trade which will challenge them & hopefully make them want to stay longer.

People will ask which trades have shorter waiting times, but they are warned about the fact they cannot transfer once they join. If for example someone had passed all elements of selection and wished to join as a Logs(Pers) (Submariner) they could have joined this Sunday!

Trades are rapidly filling-up. WS(Tactical) (Submariner) has no vacancies until April 2010, for example.
  7. I was actually offered WS instead of SS as an alternative due to the waiting time but I stuck with my guns as SS was what stuck out for me despite the waiting times and I now leave in 2 days after waiting 18 months or so and to be honest it has gone very fast.
  8. Hope everything goes well for you at Raleigh/Collingwood

  9. Just wondering about people who are applying for a brach that has a shortage. Is the application likely to be processed quicker as they need recruits or does it still take the same amount of time as an application for a branch with a long waiting list?
