Just a swift post for those thinking or just about apply to join the Royal Navy or Royal Marines.
At this time of year we start to waste a lot of time and effort inviting people up and down the country to start the selection process by sitting the Recruiting Test, who subsequently fail to turn up, thus depriving somebody else the opportunity to get the process started. This is particularly disappointing for those applying for trades than can take up to 24 months to join.
Some people seem to be of the opinion that if they start the process by sitting the Recruiting Test that they will be whisked into the Royal Navy & Royal Marines before Christmas.
May I just reassure everyone that you can stop, start or stall the recruiting process at any stage & in any case. In the extremely unlikely event you were to get a joining date allocated before Christmas then you would still be home on leave for Christmas & New Year.
Hope that clarifies the issue for all those who don't turn up for any apparent reason & keep others waiting unecessarily.
