    I have three copies of the biography of Jock Lewes who David Stirling recognised as the real brains behind the outfit. Lewes devised and carried out the initial training of SAS personnel. Sadly he was killed and did not go on to received the full merit he should have done. In his spare time he invented the Lewes Bomb which was a very effective tool in taking out enemy equipment, especially aircraft on the ground. Great review by rebbonk which can be read here:

    As ever, comp entry through page on Survey Monkey which can be found here: Entry Form

    This competition will run until Sunday 1st May (unless I decide to go away for the bank holiday in which case it will be later!)

    Note: The questions may not be quite what you expected - read and inwardly digest before answering. They are about SAS though.

  11. Not for me, I was dad's taxi. My youngest son 31yrs did not look to good and looked like he had cellulites in his leg. They kept him in and are keeping in to day. Kids always causing problems? My phone was never designed for man size fingers, this kindle fire is not to bad, at least with this I can keep pagers open in the background.

    Comp closed and winners informed by email. The lucky guys are:

    @Zhopa
    @Notachance
    @Helm

    Get your details to me asap and I will arrange for the book to be sent.

    The answers to this SAS competition are:

    Q1 The Scandinavian Airlines System was formed in 1946

    Q2 The flag bearing countries for this airline are: Sweden, Norway & Denmark

    Q3 The baggage handling system introduced by SAS was the Fingerprint Bio-metric Identification system

    Some people were a bit confused by the questions but I did warn people to read them! The old adage RTFQ applies to all of these competitions! :cool:

  15. Sneaky old git

  16. I did read the questions, got them all right and still didn't win.

    I sense a fix by a disgruntled pongo who's none too happy about the recent rugby result (and losing to the crabs :)).
