Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hello all this is a simple question to those in the know, I was wondering which of the 2 jobs (CIS/WS) get the most sea time ? and which of the two in your own personal opinion are the most varied?
  2. WS Gets more sea time.
    Im going for WS (SSM)
  3. Both do a lot of sea time to be honest. With CIS though there are more shore jobs though in Commcen's etc
  4. Not any more there isn't!

Until you become a Senior Rate, I'd say it's pretty much even, and your time ashore will be the minimum required by Personal Functional Standards (i.e. no more than 660 days away from your base port in a rolling 3 year period). Whilst there are marginally more "proper" shore drafts for CIS JRs, I wouldn't bet on having them; anyway, with sea pay, ula and your warrants, it's much better to be in a sea draft!
