CIS Submariner Phase 2 & Sub Training

Hey!

So I have my interview on the 8th of Jan. Before anyone says it, I have tried using the search bar and looking before making a new thread, but everything I’ve seen has been vague or inconclusive. I was wondering if anyone could help with the things below or drop the links to where I can find them. It would be greatly appreciated.

Phase 2 Training - Is it definitely @ HMS Collingwood & if so, for how long Before moving back to HMS Raleigh?

Where do I complete my Wet & Dry Training & what’s included/taught?

Specific Submariner Training - Whats taught and where is it held? <— I understand this answer may stay vague due to not being able to say too much about it.

Im aware these questions & timelines may cross over each other, but if someone could clear these questions up, Id be very grateful!

TIA!

Wet and dry will probably be Faslamabad, doubtful if you'll get Plymouth.

Specific trade training will be at Raleigh.

So I’ve just found some information. Could you confirm if this correct to the best of your knowledge?

”After basic training, you’ll spend a further 4 months in Submarine School at HMS Raleigh in Cornwall, learning about submarine weapon engineering and warfare, nuclear marine engineering at HMS Sultan and escape training at SETT at Fort Blockhouse in Gosport. Youll undertake training specific to your job and chose branch as well as completing specialist submarine training (SMQ) at HMS Drake in Plymouth, or HMS Neptune in Faslane, near Glasgow in Scotland.”

So if I understand this correctly, I won’t spend any time at HMS Collingwood for Phase 2/3, like I originally thought?

No idea about CISSM pipeline, and as a WE you won't be going to Sultan for any nuclear training, that's for MEs.

Do you happen to know if CISSM have a secondary role, if they have one at all? I.e Chefs also drive/steer the sub (this info I was told by my careers advisor).

Yep, they are also responsible for cleaning the Heads(toilets in navy speak). An honourable trade. I was once Captain of the Heads myself but I wasn't a CISSM.

Chefs do not steer the boat, the PO CISSM (known as the RS) and PO Caterer do though, as do the Steward (branch now no more), and the rest of the white mafia, but not chefs.

You will go to Collingwood and do your WE course for roughly 6-7months depending on how full the place is. You will then go back to raleigh and do your cis specific training for 4 months...again depending on how full raleigh is depends on holdover etc. From there you will go to faslane to do your smq dry which is normally 8-10 weeks when completing that you will do your wet phase which will vary depending on boats etc you choose and are assigned. I am currently doing this course just now and just about to go to raleigh, hope this helps!
