Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Taken from an out cut from todays BBC On Line News.

A country that depends on sea-trading faces the greatest threat to its survival in areas outside its own borders. Because of this, we need to have a stronger navy to protect our trading interests

Prof Ne Lex Yong, of Shanghai Normal University

    China

Now it seems to me we are even more Dependant on sea trade than China being a small Island Nation with 55,000,000 people to support and maintain our trading infrastructure. Now it seems China feels that to protect her trade she needs to expand her Navy HM Government and the MOD seem to think that to protect our trade we should reduce the size of our Navy.

    Someone has the calculations wrong.

  2. Does that mean China has a Shanghai Abnormal University?

  3. Geographically, we are virtually dependent on maritime trade to exist. Historically, in 2 World Wars, we came close to losing them, due to the U-Boat threat. Don't suppose there are any members of the Government who studied History or Geography, are there ? No ? Thought not, politics and media studies were much more interesting I suppose ?
