As stated before, the pay rate is situated on the lower pay spine however I am not sure if this is remains the case at LH, PO, CPO, and WO levels. Even as an AB chef on the lower spine you will be earning a pretty good wage compared to your civillian counterparts (Commis Chefs in restaurants etc). The promotion opportunities seem to differ greatly,I am aware of a chef now on his PO's course that joined up in 2000 (9 years is not too shabby a wait) but on the other hand there are many, many chefs that remain at LH level unti the very end of their career in this particular trade.

Maybe there are some chefs/Logisticians (CS) (P) that can clarify further on this site but it seems to be mainly a mix of stokers and dabbers.
