Chatham. HMS PEMBROKE MEMORIAL PARADE

On the 3rd Sept 1917 the Drill Hall RN Baracks Chatham was bombed with the loss of 135 lives. The barracks were handed over to Greenwich University in 1984 and the memorial plaque was lost. The Drill Hall has been refurbished as the new library for Universities of Kent and Greenwich and a new memorial will be unveiled during a parade on 10th Sept 06.

The parade will be led by the Band of HM Royal Marines (Plymouth) and the Guard of HMS PRESIDENT.

Any ex or serving matelots are welcome to attend i will be happy to provide a detailed brief and pass on contact details of the organisers. The parade will be on the Old HMS PEMBROKE parade ground, which should evoke many memories.
