Changing to Reserves

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I am currently in the process of joining the Royal Navy as a Warfare Specialist. Is it possible to change to become a reserve or am I too far into the process? I have just passed my medical.

Absolutely, just give your AFCO a call.

WS has a two year wait anyway - some applicants join the RNR whilst waiting to join as a Warfare spec.
  3. Good idea NS....

And it will help SoS meet his recruiting targets for the RNR, even if Bow96 is really just on BRNC/Raleigh waiting list!!

  4. Does this mean that there is a shorter waiting time to join the RNR as opposed to the RN as a Warfare Spec?
Also if this was the case and hypothetically one chose to switch their application from RN to RNR for Warfare Spec to get in quicker, would it be an option at a later date to transfer across to RN as a Warfare Spec if there was availability?
  5. There is no such branch in the RNR, and in any case it takes literally years to get fully trained up to be able to deploy as a trained rating in the reserves.

EQG - Having read some of the drivel you spout, may I strongly suggest you STFU?
  7. Holy thread redirection, Batman!!!!
