Cardiovascular training

Personally i don't use hear rate monitors and all the fancy stuff, just bought myself a pair of runners and got going one day, i average about a 6 minute mile over about 9 or 10 miles and am gradually loading weights on :D took a bleep test one day and managed to slog out 16.4 (was 16 at the time, about this time last year), so personally, i'd say do the same, just time yourself running rather than measuring heart rate!
