Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I'm not sure if this is the right place for this but, has anybody got any info on the canal barges the RN own and how we can book them??

Funnily enough, I bought a 32' cabin cruiser when I switched to the Naval Careers Service. In the boatyard at Nantwich, there was my favourite named ex-pusser canal boat - "Shy Talk", up for sale. I was sorely tempted to buy her on the strength of the name alone.

  4. Depends where you are. Yeovilton's was bookable ont the Heron intranet.
  5. You might be advised to call it a Narrowboat and not a Barge, though. Yeovilton's boat passes through Bath now and again and very fine it looks too.
  6. Cheers guys!! I'll have a look tomorrow? (back at work)

  7. Beat me to it! NARROWBOAT, unless it is a Dutch Barge etc. Anyway, great fun - I lived on one for 3 years during the week while based in Bristol. Hope you get one and have a great laugh!
