BRNC May 2020

Sent enquiry to AIB a couple of weeks ago about state of play given the fact that some candidates are still having virtual AIBs (i.e. pool size is increasing) and got this response:
'Following the cancellation of the May intake the September entry has been increased in size. I am unsure how this breaks down within branches. The July selection board is scheduled to sit. I believe everyone is still in the pot and will be considered at that board altogether. There are still candidates passing ‘virtual’ AIBs. I don’t know how this will be measured against candidates who have done the full AIB.'
Not the most informative, but better than nothing! Can anyone remind me when the July board is meant to sit?

Thank you so much! I know that the July board will sit toward the end of July, however I am not sure of an exact date

Recently asked for an exact date but my ACLO said there is yet to be an exact date.

Assuming everyone received the recent update email so already know, but for those that don't FSBs for both entries to BRNC and CTCRM in September will be held on 15th July.
If anyone missed email lmk and I can summarise/share in full

Sure (sorry for delay/length)

Medicals
  • Capita continuing to conduct initial 'Triage' phone calls, and are starting to re-commence booking face to face medicals, though there will be a backlog
  • Do not contact just to chase up appointments as it is counterproductive (gives them more additional work)
  • Capital are currently processing medical questionnaires without eye test results, but these will be caught up on when situation allows and we will send out further details and voucher codes once available
  • Please hold off booking eye tests independently. while this is not the end of the world, it can get administratively messy and might result in a) you having to pay for test and b) Capita not being able to access your results. Best to wait for the link and details provided in due course
  • PJFTs continue to be suspended, will be reassessed when gyms open. Virtual alternative is in place for RMO candidates.
General
  • AIBs continuing to be conducted virtually (Skype interview, verbal presentation)
  • Virtual AIBs expected to continue throughout September at least, poss longer
  • AIB prioritising candidates cancelled from in-person boards March-June for vAIBs, and RMO candidates as they only have one training intake. Unlikely to have capacity to get through this backlog, so some will be pushed to autumn term. All other candidates waiting for AIB won't attend pre-autumn term as there is no capacity and vAIBs can't accommodate same volume of candidates as trad. AIB
  • Final selection boards to BRNC and CTCRM in Sept will be held 15th July. You will only be contacted directly if successful, AFCOs should recieve list a day or two after so if unsure give your Careers Officer a call.
  • If selected to start training, the relevant establishment will be in touch directly with joining instructions and more info
BRNC
  • Slightly larger intake than normal in Sept to compensate for May's cancellation. Competition for places is hot.
  • Those who conducted vAIB and not selected will be rolled forward to Selection board for Jan 2021 entry (so 2 shots at selection)
  • Candidates selected for Sept entry will have to conduct face to face medical if applied (and Flying Aptitude Tests if applicable) - final offer will be conditional on satisfactory results from these. FATS due to recommence 15th July (relevant candidates will be contacted directly to book
  • Jan 2021 selection board will be mid-November
CTCRM
  • RMYO batch likely to be individuals who have completed a combination of POC, full AIB, vAIB and vPJTF. Larger number than normal selected, all will undergo physical fitness module at CTCRM at start of training
  • BRNC Candidates - those selected who have not completed face to face medicals will be contacted to arrange a date for medical. Final offer conditional on results
  • Likely c. 90R candidates who will not get called forward for vAIB for this batch. They will be encouraged to compete for RMYO21 entry (next year)
