  1. British sniper describes moment he shot Taliban commander... from TWO KILOMETRES away.

A British sniper killed a Taliban leader with the longest-ever fatal bullet shot in Afghanistan - from nearly TWO KILOMETRES away.

Corporal Christopher Reynolds, 25, camped on the roof of a shop for three days as he waited for the perfect conditions to shoot the terrorist commander.

He calculated the range, wind and trajectory before pulling the trigger - and the bullet flew 1,853 metres before hitting the target in the chest.

Is he at Bisley next year? 'cos if he is I don't think I'll bother.

  3. Re: British sniper describes moment he shot Taliban commande

I will personally buy that man all the booze he can drink if I ever meet him but I thought the record was by that Canadian Furlong with something like 2400 metres a while back.
Remember he missed the first, second hit the backpack third ripped the guts out of the target.
Can't be sure but this was covered here in RR a few months ago.
He was treated like shit when he got home, disgraceful!
Got the full report somewhere but a Google will find it.

  4. That is excellent shooting, and I doff my hat to the man.

However, as has been mentioned on ARRSE, that persec in that article is absolutely appalling - his name, his wife, his child, where he lives. The MoD pres office and tha sniper need a slap and reminder about just who would like details like that.

  5. Re: British sniper describes moment he shot Taliban commande

Personal details should have never been published - but
having said that...his absolutely phenomenal marksmanship
and incredible patience in the most adverse conditions
    deserve the praise.

The Americans usually use "bullets" weighing at least a couple
of thousand pounds......dropped from a very high altitude in
the general location of where they think a High Value Target
MIGHT be.....and hope for the best.

I have to agree with some of the above posts. Yes, well done Great shot..lots of kills excellent. However, what the flying fukc is the MOD doing in publishing all that info...someone needs a fukcing good kicking.
I spent a couple of years on the Conduct after Capture wing, teaching people what they can and can't say if they get caught by Mr Bad Guy....No way should this personal info be divulged, the info that's been given here is absolute gold to the supporters of Mr Bad Guy.
The person who authorised the release of this info should be fukcing sacked.

  7. Re: British sniper describes moment he shot Taliban commande

The shots that I have seen on vid did not make the target slump...they tore the target limb from limb and relocated the parts some distance away

  8. Re: British sniper describes moment he shot Taliban commande

Did he use the standard sniper answer during the interview?

Q - What did you feel when you shot the taliban chap?

    A - Slight recoil!!
