British Army to Royal Navy transfer

Hi all!

I know there's been a few posts like this in the past, however just wanted to the most gen possible before showing my cards to my hierarchy for them to give me the finger.

served 6 years in the household cavalry as a recconiscance soldier been a lcpl for 2yrs, Looking to pick up my full screw this year. Quals I have are level 2 diploma in engineering and recently a level 3 diploma in telecommunications and networking (advanced signals course)
Some of questions I have are probably the same as everyone, what would happen with pay? Will I drop back down to basic level pay? Or would I be marking time on my current pay
Not that it would be a problem, would I have to attend basic training again?
And what sort of roles would suit someone with these qualifications.

If there is anyone that has completed this process it would be great fora reply but also all feedback would be appreciated guys!! Thanks

You might like this one:

If that doesn't appeal, try out the Role Finder; there might be something on there which you like.

Re the pay/basic training questions, the best person to advise is the poster called Ninja_Stoker. He will probably have seen this by the end of tomorrow morning and will give you chapter and verse.
Thanks for the links will keep my eyes peeled cheers.

The "Good Book2" for transfer Army to RN is BR3, Part 7, Chapter 48: https://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/reference-library/br3vol1/contents/part-7

You could look at, if you hold GCSEs accredited BTEC L3 engineering quals is the Accelerated Apprentice scheme, in which you would transfer as a Corporal/Leading hand: https://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/career...elerated-apprentice-scheme-marine-engineering

Once you submit a formal request to transfer, you will be given an approval to process letter (ATP) which will detail the rate of pay and seniority upon transfer.

Most JNCOs & Other Ranks can expect to undergo phase one training for the marinisation phase of training whilst appreciating you will already be familiar with the military training aspect. My advice? expect the worst (full ten weeks basic RN training), but hope for the best (straight into phase two branch training).

Pay-wise, you may dip a band or two until back onto the trained strength. Rank/Rate depends on seniority accrued and level of transfer.

As stated above CIS, ET(WE), AET or ET(ME) may well appeal, given your qualifications
