Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hi all!

This coming Wednesday (eek!) members (including our Cox'n, CPO 'Jess' James) of Bristol University Royal Naval Unit will be running from the University of Bath in the east to Bristol University in the west via Bath Spa University and the University of the West of England-a distance of (just over) 26.2 miles - a marathon!

To make things poetic, our charities rep has targeted a time of 205 minutes in which to complete the run, as it is the 205th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar this year. The challenge is on!

We are running in aid of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, which provides support to the entire Naval family and aims to help those who are in need or who are suffering hardship; assist with the education of their children; and boost the morale and well being of serving personnel by issuing grants to its affiliated charities who then go on and help our deserving servicemen and women.

We appreciate any donations, no matter how small, and even if you can't donate, if you could spread the word it would be very much appreciated!

    Our fundraising page is http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/bristolurnu-unirun

Throughout the day, updates and photos will be posted to our Twitter page to keep people updated on our progress! http://www.twitter.com/bristolurnu

    Thanks for your time!

Best of luck with the fundraising, good to see the "big guns" digging into their pockets too.

  3. Thank you very much N_S! Indeed it is good to see them putting money in too :)

  4. Quick update that the run is tomorrow! If people donate, they can choose a distance they want our oh so lovely chief (Jess James if you know him ;) ) to run, and he will take the average of all the distances and aim to run that tomorrow. The nearer 26.2 miles the better as we watch him die in pain (all photographed and documented of course :) )

    Cheers

  5. Only a few hours to go until our team start their marathon! Thanks to all those who have donated so far!

Donations are still welcome, and I'd also encourage people to follow the teams progress on Twitter if they can, it's all to try and make them run that little bit faster to hit the target time of 205 minutes - the number of years since the Battle of Trafalgar!
