Midshipman
Hi all, in the process of joining the Royal Navy as a warfare specialist submariner (sensors) but all the job seems is detecting and searching for threats.
If anyone could give me more information about the job, what they do day-to-day.
I have looked myself although that's the only thing I've found about the role.

Basically you sit in a small room(the sound room in the case of sonar) filled with electronic equipment monitoring the information gathered by the boats "ears"
I can tell you about sonar as that was my trade. When at sea you are split into two watches and operate 6 on 6 off day in day out for the period dived. There will be periods where very little happens along with very intense activity occasionally. If you are claustrophobic or dislike wearing headphones change your options now before it's too late.
