Branch/Career Advice

Haven't got it yet - that's why the 10 grand would come in handy!
I got it, but how many hamyeggys for £10k, plus as you well know, you had a successful career as one of the submarine elite benders, and for £10k you would be setting yourself up for a fail

OP,

Submarine Chef would be a great opportunity for you and don't worry, despite the job title you won't just be making baguettes.

Very important job in terms of morale and "nutrition".

Short wait time to join and £££ bonuses for qualifying.

I am a little confused here, this appears to of turned into a chef bashing post. If, per say, you are a GOOD chef and join the navy, is there an issue?

If you join you will soon realise the piss taking and banter is constant between trades and branches, chef get possibly more piss taking than most, but only a fool would really piss off the chef's, think of the possible nasty things that could be hiding in your food? All chef's I have known can give as good as they get, thick skin and quick lip are sometimes required.

Haha I understand I have quite a thick skin already from my existing job as it is no different in a civilian kitchen. I understood that it would be thighs way.

Banter and life in the RN.

For example, Dapper will LOVE the Gordon Ramsey dit. No, really, he will! Then there is this:

In the greenies mess, no lights work.
In the stokers mess, nothing mechanical works.
In the cooks mess, no food.

etc etc

And everybody takes the pi55 out of everybody else - until you are ashore when you are all of one company against the world!

So cooky boy, take nothing personally!!

Thanks for all the advice guys I really appreciate it. I think I will apply for a chef role, I really enjoy it and I may as well play to my strengths.

Seriously, you'd be daft not to! Go boats and get your 10K too! If you are any good, there are (used to be?) inter-service cooking competitions and suchlike, so possibly find out/volunteer for something like that?

Good luck whatever.
