Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hi
Being NEW to this forum I don't know if this is the correct area to look for a book.
I am reading a super book by DAVID HART DYKE who was the Captain of HMS Coventry that was sunk in the Falklands conflict. In his book (FOUR WEEKS IN MAY) he states that he had read a book about a MIDSHIPMAN involved in the GALLIPOLI CAMPAIGN IN 1915/16. What I am trying to find out does anybody know the title of the book he may have been reading???? :? :? :?
  2. Have just done a quick google and found this:

"For a good description of the landings from a Navy viwepoint I can recommend "Gallipoli" by Eric Bush, who was a midshipman (from HMS BACCCHANTE) towing the ANZACs ashore, for which he won the DSC aged 15 - the youngest ever."
  3. A book specifically about a midshipman at Gallipoli is:

    Dardanelles: A Midshipman's Diary
    H M Denham
    John Murray, 1981

I've only dipped into it, but he was on HMS Agamemnon to start with and appears to have served through the whole campaign.
