Answers:

Q1 The name for the German Army during WW1, and now, is Deutsche Heer

Q2 The German CinC at the outbreak of war was Moltke - although he did not last long and was offski a couple of months into the war.

Q3 The Pour le Merite is known as the Blue Max - the Blauer Max.
