Blair Goes Begging for the President of EU Position

Loved the reference to the US not being bothered with us (the EU) most of the time. The EU's top brass is unelected and, even in the country that gave the world GWB - supposedly as the result of a free and fair election, rather than as an accounting stitch-up - an unelected "government" carries no weight with the people, so doesn't deserve much credence.

Poor old de Gaulle must be turning in his grave, thinking that "his" Common Market has fallen so low that it would have charlatans such as Blair and Mandelson carrying any credibility.

Sorry to correct you, and I do mean that, but surely it should have been KINNOCKS in the plural as both of these bastards are on the first class section of the Euro Gravy Train.

Lord Mandelson hinted at irritation within the Government over such opposition, saying: “The way in which the EPP and PES are approaching this is very old-fashioned, to suit their own needs rather than the wider interests of Europe.â€

Perhaps I begin to get it. Germany doesn't want anyone who might, in a difference, be difficult to brow-beat. Fr ditto. Not sure whether Napoleon or Hitler have won this one, but one of them has.
