Fighting Steel

Old and definately looking dated but I wasted a hell of a lot of time on the thing when my PC was on windows 98 and actually worked...........ME followed by Vista soon made me long for the old days

Sea Dogs 1 (There is now a 2). - That game was pretty good, played as a small Pirate and worked you way up by employing people, buying ships and sailing around the map to other ports and taking part in battle.

EDIT: Just found an online pirate game

Anyone remember the game which used to be on the Link 14 console in the Ops Room in the early 80's? One with a ship and you had to either shoot down the incoming jet or depth charge the submarine when they appeared.

688 attack sub was a great game, I had it on the Amiga...now I'm showing my age.

I also have Sid Meiers Pirates! on both the Xbox and the Pc (PC version is a lot better and much more indepth) best bit is the ship vs ship battles, which can be taken to daft extremes like trying to fight a brig or a frigate with a pinnacle.

I just wish there was a sequel to Pirates with better graphics or perhaps modernised......now theres an angle for a game "Pirates! Somalia"

....cough ... <maybe> .... unless of course I was busy adding the dates and times of the Soviet RORSAT passes or on the UAA1

Has anyone out there played dangerous waters? I believe the company have sold the software to a number of Navy's for their simulator training.

There are some absolutely brilliant Naval themed games out there. I went a bit mad last year and downloaded and purchased a fair few. Up to date Naval games seem a bit thin on the ground but you can download some really classic ones and use either a system Emulator (ie Amiga) or the brilliant DOSBOX which let's you play classic PC games on a modern operating system.

My particular favourites are:

Enigma Rising.

Destroyer Command

Dangerous Waters is a winner also.

This website has loads of classic Naval games like Silent Service to download for free: http://www.abandonia.com/en/search_abandonia/silent+service

You will need this program to play them on a modern PC:

www.dosbox.com

Hope somebody finds this useful.
