Benefits of the Submarine Service

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I recently had an AIB preparation day, and the Lieutenant told me that if there was no space in the Surface Fleet on entrance to the RN, then I may be offered a place into the Submarine Service.
I am now brushing up on the service, and are looking at the benefits of it.

    I currently have:
    1. £5,000 entry grant and higher rate of pay
    2. When docked I will stay on land, often in a hotel
    3. Not as many runs ashore, therefore less time away from home in comparison to the Surface Fleet

Is there anymore benefits that I should know of? Or even anything important about the service?

    Appreciate the help,
    edtaylor12 :)
  2. " less time away from home in comparison to surface fleet" - you might want to talk to someone on Triumph (or any other recent SSN(T)) about that!
  3. Haha good point! These points are only what I have been told :)
  4. Ignore points 2 and 3 if you go on bombers.
