I am about 4 months away from joining the Navy, is there any advise you want to give me (apart from keeping fit). I am in Military college and I was in Cadets so I have good prior knowledge and knowledge of what my Role will involve. Anything is appreciated :).

Which role have you opted for?

One small piece of advice I would offer might be to not play any sports which mean the risk of some kind of injury in the weeks before you start. You should be doing things to keep fit, of course, but I would suggest that you shouldn't play anything like football or rugby. I know of one or two people who were injured in this way very close to their start dates and their entry dates had to be deferred. Running and swimming will be perfect.

I also know someone who jumped up on to a wall along a beach for a lark then fell off it and hurt himself, so just think carefully about anything like that.

Oh, I almost forgot - have a look at this suite of 7 videos - you will find them helpful.

PS It will help you if you schedule some practice sessions for yourself so that you know that you have mastered what you have seen in the videos.

Forget you were ever in the cadets or at a military college - just keep QUIET. Do not mention it, just keep your head down and crack on - it will be obvious to 'them' that you are at a different 'level' to the other New Entrants.

But if you should be stupid enough to say 'When I was in the cadets' or 'We did it like this in the cadets' then all manner of poo and ridicule will descend rapidly (and deservedly) on your skull. Help out those not as well versed in the military ways. There are eyes everywhere..........

I wouldn't do that anyway, but thank you. It can piss them off...

Sage advice.

The mantra you should adopt should be something like ; "I know nothing - nothing"

Bollocks. Ignore all above, they’re too old. Tell Everyone you’re a hardcore ex cadet etc. You’ll be appreciated ten fold.
Oh, and question everything, and I mean everything.
