BBC News: "Royal Navy Arrests Suspected Pirates Off Somali Coast"

Oh good that's seven of them briefly interrupted. I would have thought that we could at least have RoE that allowed us to attack a boat that sugars off at high speed. No casualties on our side is good of course but as for theirs, tough tit. The Blairites that write this stuff need to realise that sparing pirate casulaties isn't necessarily a source of pride and joy. Hot pursuit and all that.

Wipes froth from mouth.

Royal Marines inspect a skiff crammed with fuel barrels, overwatched by Fort Victoria in the background
Looks like a whaler, not a skiff.

overwatched
Yes overwatch is a word but so is hark and I wouldn't use hark in lieu of d'ye hear there. What is wrong with 'watched over'? Overwatch has been tainted by jargonistas.

................in the background.
For those who were wondering what the grey death star was.

Shoot up the boat, everyone in it, guilty or not, hostages and suspected or actual pirates, Jemel the fisherman going about his lawful occasions but doesn't want Royal to prof his porn stash so he floors it?

Do you want someone - with recent experience - to explain the meaning of 'Constabulary operations'........again?

Spanish owned, spanish crewed, Spanish flagged or all of the above? I recently wrote that I hadn't seen any European (flagged) fishing boats in the area. I may not be as in date as I thought I was. I will however be returning to Long Jemel Silver's area of operations any moment now.

Bloody 'ell. Why not change your login to P.Nickety...

I'd say overwatch is a very good military term - one unit provides support for another...

Right I shall crawl back under my rock now...
