I have a story abouy christmas puddings and rum from a civvy chef at Drake who is an ex Matelot.
When he was on the 'Squirrel' they used to put an enamel mug in the bottom of the mixing bowl when making Christmas puddings. When the skipper came down to pour the rum in, it used to go into the mug at the bottom and after photos, etc, he used to take the brimming mug out, drink the rum and replace it with rum flavoring
