Hampshire Flag Company, based in Waterlooville, made the sign for The News to mark the return of the Portsmouth-based warship – affectionately known as the Crazy Red Chicken which will pass the Round Tower in Old Portsmouth around 9.30am on Monday.
The destroyer was sent to support Nato operations off the Libyan coast in April and became the first Royal Navy warship to be fired on since the 1982 Falklands War. Forces loyal to Colonel Gaddafi shot rockets at the ship a total of 10 times during the operations.

When the Island Class OPV HMS Jersey was commissioned, the States of Jersey asked her CO what the ship would like as a commissioning present. He submitted a list of options including a windsurfer, canoe, bicycle, rowing machine, etc. The ship received the lot!
The next Island Class OPV on the stocks was HMS Lindisfarne. Sadly, no such luck. =(
