  1. hello I have got a few queries;do I need to take socks to basic training or are socks provided? It's just that they aren't on the kit list?

    Any help much appreciated
  2. A spare sock is always handy if you intend to carry out any self-polishing. ;)

  3. Socks are issued, it's the thing most matelots have trouble with when they leave the mob. Forget CV's and job interviews, it's having to buy your own socks!!

  4. I've never understood the fascination with pussers thicks; I find them bloody uncomfy.
  5. They're more comfortable than pussers thins with less than 3 month old shoes though.

The free socks are the main reason I served 35 years. Without them, I'd have walked :)
  7. I see what you did there :D

  10. The chief cook on the Fife was nicknamed "donkey", he used to take his own pillowcases.
  11. When I joined in 64 I only got the first pairs issued free. Is it too late to claim for all those I bought myself?
  12. I had no problem purchasing socks when I left the Andrew but finding a pint of CSB was a major problem.
