Basic Training - sailing?

I haven't found anything on this so far. Just wandering if recruits do any sailing for the 10 weeks basic training. If so , how much and on what boats? I assume dinghy sailing if there was any?

Don't quote me, but I think not. Powerboats are the things to be dashing about in these days.

Ah It was just that I'm sure I have seen sailing off Jupiter point and I'm sure they were not sea cadets or anything like that. Thanks for the reply
Check out the RNSA on t'internet. You can still sail from Jupiter Point, but maybe not in basic.
Like I said, don't quote me. (And you did).

Short answer (windsurfing through ocean) = Yes.

Opportunities for sailing at all levels abound;, from an afternoon around the cans in a Dinghy to major offshore adventurous sail training yacht races & expeditions,

During each training phase register your interest & quals with your DO who will gladly put you in touch with the relevant establishment sailing rep.

Bear in mind that the priorities are for you to progress through your training first and foremost but you will still find some time to participate and develop whichever sport interests you.

As BOOTWU said - loads of chances - grab them! I got a trip on the Malcolm Miller, 2 or 3 Tall ship races, many dinghy trips and regattas etc. I even had skippers taking me out asking to be taken out! But MAKE IT KNOWN!!

As soon as you are in the Mob and settled, join the RNSA.
