Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Well i'm in the joining process, wont actually get in for at least a year, however I've just found out my girlfriend is pregnant.

The navy still seems the best option for us, even as a family, but what are the restrictions on travel warrents and or base accomodation for familiy?

I realise it will be hard to be away, and I'll probably miss most of the important things, any suggestions to make it easier?
  2. So you will join up roughly when the rugrat is 3 months old, jepp your going to miss out loads but thats just the way of the world isnt it,but you will have job security, regular income, possibility of married quarters, lifes not that bad you know is it,
  3. Push her down the stairs.
  4. sorry, I didnt realise how bored mongs were to trawl through forums. If its not constructive dont bother.
  5. Ok then get her to push you down the stairs, sorted,
  6. Think if your in navy, no changing babies nappy.
  7. tac

Just a note to say that any accommodation for you as a family wouldn't be available until after you have completed Phase 2 (Specialist Training).

It's important that you also know that automatic entitlement to housing is only extended to married couples. This doesn't mean that you and your partner won't get housing, but it does mean that married couples, those in civil partnerships and single parents will be ahead of you on the list.

I think that you may also be restricted on the travel warrant front but I need to get clarification on this point.

You will find this website interesting:

In the meantime, do ask any questions which you or your girlfriend might have.
  8. Chico, as a Junior/ship's nozzer you will expected to make tea for the senior hands, make their beds, hand dhoby their soiled underpants after a run ashore......

I share your sentiment however! :D

Rugrat can be signed on for the navy early, so he can begin Pt.1 training at HMS Raleigh's Annexe and transfer to the Mans Navy at 16 as a fully housetrained, potty trained, spanner trained baby stoker. :)
  9. That's me told, I won't post any more then.

Yeah, Right! If you're going to join the navy get fcuking used to it.
  10. They just can't take a joke these days, Jimmy. Sad reflection on the times!
  11. Steve, some people come on here and think we're either an official recruitment site or a cross between The Samaritans and the Citizens Advice Bureau. If he thinks I'm a mong or gets wound up by such a little bit of banter like that then he's in for a rude awakening if some of the others rip into him. He's going to have to get used to banter if he uses this site and especially so if he wants to join The Andrew.
  12. He should go to romania, and sell the kid when its born.
  13. Soliel (and tac), marriage makes no real difference to warrant entitlement (standfast school childrens' visits later on in life). GYH(EY) for first three years and seagoers sea is your lot generally speaking. Entitlement to GYH(Travel) will be easier to apply for as you won't need the three million proofs of entitlement that a single person does.

I'll stand correction but I don't think that there will be any entitlement to Married Quarters unless married, in a civil partnership or a single parent. A DHE matter though, so can't be 100% certain.
  14. There's a time and a place for it, Jimmy.
