Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. That would mean Oz actually getting boats that work!
  2. Not convinced they've abandoned their rather ambitious aspiration to design and build their own, but they certainly appear to be moving towards a logical baseline with a very competent partner. Might even reduce the brain drain from what's left of the UK submarine industrial base.......
  3. Perhaps the Jap boats are a stop gap while they design their own. I read elsewhere that the boats being considered are by comparison to the Collins boats short range making their base in Perth too far from the theatre of action.
  4. I'm sure there was talk of some being based in Darwin.
The question is who is going to crew them? They struggle to crew what they have.

You've forgotten to take into account the Top Secret Hydrogen cells which would of course make a difference.
  6. They could have ask Barrow and been charged twice as much?
  7. Will there be a large dent in the bow of each and the stench of cheese and garlic and a copious supply of flags (white)?

Dodgy French Government / procurement at work again.
