Astute Oil Pump?

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. It's normal to only have one running!

  2. Why no protection to start a second one if the oil pressure falls?

  3. There is normally a standby pump, and an emergency too (at least on ships, anyway).

  4. Ahhhh! You've hit the nail on the head.

And on boats too, though if they are not in the standby state, they won't run.

  5. Thats what SOP's are for! :thumright:

  6. Not when you are operating under a Build Test Form (SOPs do not apply) :thumright: Of course it doesn't matter how many AC/DC fed pumps you have if you manage to lose all the electrical supplies !!

  7. Which would be why the emergency pump is air driven :thumright:

SOP's are still carried out during BTF periods (or at least normally!) This is the time when SOP's are sorted. :)

  8. This is old old old news. It happened months ago.

  9. They still have not sorted it though.

  10. I never said that it had. Was just saying this isnt news. Topic for discussion perhaps but news it is not.

  11. "The repair work to remove the scoring marks on the generator shafts is being carried out"
Once damaged it needs replaced, not with a couple of thou skimmed off, it will never be the same as new
Ok for the crew though, forever in refit every four months
