Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I went to the Royal Navy frequently asked questions section to see what the status on joining with Asthma was. I got a complete non-answer of:

"Each case is assessed on an individual basis, so the best thing to do would is speak to your local Careers Advisers for advice."

Can any of you give me some more detailed advice, I'd rather they just said flat out no if that's the case.
  2. Going by previous enquiries(and there have been many over the years) it would seem the advice given is as good as you're going to get until the Docs have had a squint at your medical records. Unless you're ready to lay out your personal circumstance for all to see here I doubt you will get anything more definite.
  3. Well the extent is that I'm currently on medication which keep it under control. Though, I've not had a serious attack since I was 3 years old and it doesn't impede physical activity. I'm also a software engineering student at University if that helps anyway.

    Thanks for the reply.
