ARMY NAVY Rugby Match

9-3 to the Fijian National Team. Rumour has it that we are going to naturalise the All Blacks next year, let them join, never draft them to front line units, let them avoid any form of military training, and see what happens then.....

D@mn it, when are we gonna stop letting the lads in green win!!

When we have four times the amount of people to choose from. When we can take the team and separate it from the rest of the RN for pre season, tours and matches. When we can recruit guys based on sporting ability alone, segregate them from the rest of the RN and not make them carry out any professional or military training.....not bitter, just getting fed up with the scales being unfairly leveraged.

Good points there! Suppose being at sea, its hard to actually take time off for social fun!

Get real, all.

If we had players good enough, they'd get the time to train. It's been a long time since the RN & RM had enough really good players to make a 15 capable of winning.

I would suggest that an excess of "social fun" might be part of the problem

If you seriously think we are playing on a level field and you have access to the intranet you may want to search on the following:

RAF Elite sportsman scheme and Army Elite Rugby scheme, we have no equivelant schemes as far as I can discern!

But it's all just a bit of fun really, isn't it?

Navy could have won it this year - worst game of rugby I've seen in years though - bad options, bad handling, poor kicking, and the penalty count (especially from the Navy) was astronomical. Both sides were pretty dreadful, it's just the army were slightly less dreadful.

Scud, could not have put it better. Still. A great day out. Scooby Doo, my kids think you ROCK! So did a quarter of the stadium. Any one know who he was? Best quote of the day was as a Smurf was lead off by two MPs, watched by a grinning POReg, "You can't arest me I'm duty reggie at Raleigh on Monday morning!"

Went to the game on Saturday and agree it was a poor performance. However the RN must be pleased that with the score line after the ARMY V RAF result.
It was also 100 years of RN rugby, much more should have been done to promote it and encourage people to support. It wasthough a good day out and a chance to catch up with old friends.

Have to say i think the Navy deserved to win on saturday. They were rubbish, but the Army team was totally crap. For professional sportsmen which lets face it the army team are they had the skill level of 9 year olds. Not too many fujies in the team this year or so i seem to recall through a drunken haze. They have relied on the fujies too long and now are paying the price.
Hopefully next year the navy can win, then we can get rid of that tosser in charge of the squad.

Still had a tops day out. Lots of ale, bit of sunshine and a right good giggle followed by a headache that would kill a civy.

Roll on next year.

Scooby was the highlight of the entire match! He was right in front of me - I loved the way that it took 45 fluorescent goons to haul him off after 20 minutes of arguing. He wasn't even anywhere near the pitch, let alone in a position of invading the damn thing.

SCCOOOOOOOOOBY!

Where on earth you find that?

Was positively damp in Richmond for the usual post-match drinks down by the river (and before you start taking the piss no I wasn't swimming in it).

Eventually gave up and went up into London for a proper piss up.

Scooby Doo (possibly a stoker in a suit) was escorted from the ground by a large amount of stewards because he would not sit down. A handful of stewards could not do it so backup wa called for and the "goons" turned up. Rather sad. I am certain a quiet word from an MP or Reggie would have defused the situation. He was playing to the crowd but we lapped it up. Towards the end of the incedent the entire north east corner was chanting for him.
Returning to the match. I noticed recently that the Army recently abandoned BMI as a measurement of fitness. That is blindingly obvious. The Army front row would never pass fit for active service!
