Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Very well worded article.
It gives the impression that HMS RN Cutback will be following the MV Discovery all the way up to Murmansk. Hmmm....
  2. Great article as ever from you Sol.

Anyone going to gob off about the "Walts" wearing non issue medals along with the issued. Good.

My mum's brother was on the Russian Convoys during the big one, he served in HMS. Diadem, a cruiser. My mum always said that him and his mates who she knew, were never the same again after a couple of runs up there.
She said it made them very carefree to the point of "Don't give a sh*t about anyone or anything". :x
He was a Royal Marine gunner in "A" turret, aboard Diadem.
Alas he died aged 57, twenty seven years ago. :(

I saw Diadem in Bombay years ago when she had been sold to the Indian Navy, what a sh*t tip, looked like the Luftwaffe had scored several hits.
