Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hi all, I was applying for a deck hand a couple of months ago, made it through the initial screening but did not get picked for interview. On the letter I was sent to say I had been unsuccessful, I saw no reason given as to why I was not selected. Is this common? And can I appeal, or is there at least someone I can contact to explain why it is I may have not been selected? Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

The RFA is not the RN and recruits differently. There are only 12 places available on the Seaman apprentice course and there are often over 200 applicants per recruitment drive. As others have done, you could call recruitment and ask why your application was taken no further.
  3. OK, thanks a lot.
  4. You can also try again also, I think there is a time constraint on this though.
  5. you can apply again in 6 months, they will only take a top percentage for interview depending on scores and number of applicants.
