Tomorrow, ( in Oz ) 25.4.06, is arguably the most significant day of the year on the national calender. It is a day when real Australians get together with a moving Dawn Service followed by parades and then the bbqs, clubs and pubs even beach when often some have too much to drink but anything goes even gambling with the " diggers " favourite game " two up ".
As a " new chum ", I've only been here about fifty years, the way this day of remembrance is revered never ceases to move me as the nation fulfills the words, "Lest We Forget". I challenge anyone with a heart not to be deeply moved as the strains of the Last Post pierce the dawn sky and then the Old Diggers , some young, parade with medals in another piece of this national day of pride and appreciation.
Whatever is said about this day it is truly a credit to the country and one I feel priviliged to share as I will tomorrow.
