Any serving Aircraft handlers on here? or anyone applying?

Found this video about aircraft marshalling, for those who aspire.

Admittedly it's RAF rather than RN, but I have to grudgingly admit it's rather good:

Pusser pays all the fee's if it's relevant to your branch, unless you're going outside and it's for re-settlement when you can go for more or less what you want. Worth checking up on as the rules change all the time. I was bored for a while in my last draft so did ECDL and some other stuff to keep me occupied :)

That's very encouraging. Coming out with some employable qualifications is what concerns me the most, but as you studied for and got a degree then I feel much happier knowing that the RN helps you to achieve new qualifications :)

my OU degree paid for by pusser in maths, technology & systems BSc(HON), my masters came later, paid for by another employer.

That's a great qualification that you have achieved. As I said to Wrecker, it's very encouraging that the RN pays for and helps you get new qualifications. The worst scenario for me is coming out with nothing, and then scratching around to try and find some sort of menial job and being miserable!

If you come out with nothing then that means you have not taken advantage of what s on offer.
Having said that the RN did not offer me anything but I still used the educational grants available. In my day only artificers were encouraged to attend the local college to convert their ONC to HNC, though the facility od day release (if you could be spared) and the Open University were open to all.
However you must PUSH for it as many schoolies do not broadcast these facts preferring a life in their office doing whatever schoolies do :D

Oh I intend to do what I can Sumo and Slim. I want to do a full term of service, but incase for whatever reason I decide to leave before my kick out date, then I will need to have a plan B.

I want to get as many courses under my belt as possible ;)

Start date 4th Feb, 6 months later than I thought but happy days it's a start date. Hope you got yours Captain Birdseye

Good to see you've got a start date, interesting read this even for an aspiring pilot! If i get in soon too might see you on the flight deck of big liz some day.... (might be wishful thinking  )
