I'd imagine the practical reason for the age limit reduction would be something along the lines of return of service, With the budgets being cut they must want people to serve for as long as possible, and younger people would possibly serve longer. Purely just speculation though!

From what I recall its not just that. More to do with knowledge retention and trainability. As apparently the ETME (SM) are apparently set to take on new duties or something. Something about Nuclear Watchkeeping etc according to my CA.

I wish N_S or S_M would appear and kill all the speculation this thread has seen today. Too much rumour is dangerous

You cant take all those who are 27.5 to 35ish off the lists for the engineering trades and still quote the same length of time. I would speculate that maybe 20-30% of those waiting are in that catagory. I feel sorry for them I really do.

Still it does not really matter, we will get in when we get in and all these rumour's are only going to frustrate people and serve to provide false information.

I would expect to see waiting lits drop (dangerous rumour I know lol) soon enough though.

I completed my psychometric test in March 2010, and was recently told by my CA that I will hopefully start in 'early 2012' so I'm being optimistic and hoping that will happen. I notice the last post in this forum was 5 months ago - what have you all heard since then with regards to start dates/waiting list time etc.?

I shall reply..Well i passed my R.T in march 2010 as well, if i recall correctly anyway, and i was told 4 years for sea spec,, i have changed to Mine warfare recently and have been told i could have a date possibly 12 month from now.. Possibly being the key word.
