Another Lonely RM Funeral?

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. This has just been posted on the Defence Intranet:

For The Attention Of All Royal Marines
Former Royal Marine Frederick Charles Fletcher – Service Number CH108548 – Born 09/03/1924

The service for Frederick Charles Fletcher’s passing will take place on Friday 24th May 2013 at 14:45hrs. He has no family and only 1 friend will attend to mourn his passing. Therefore, as we are the nearest base to the cremetorium and if any serving Marines have the time to attend and show their respect, the service will be held at:

    Breakspear Crematorium
    West Chapel
    Breakspear Road
    HA4 7SJ

Further details may be obtained from Mrs Yasmin Mohabeer on tel: 0208 575 8916

    Deserves wider promulgation IMHO

  2. Fred's Funeral

Yesterday afternoon, I attended Fred Fletcher's funeral. Some of you may know that he crossed the bar last month, leaving only one friend to mourn him; news quickly spread via social media. Well, over 60 people attended the service: four RMA/RNA Standards, an RM Bugler, half a dozen RM Officers in Lovats, 10 members of the RBL Riders and about forty other folk who came to see him off in style.

About a dozen floral tributes and wreaths were sent; in my view, the best of the bunch (pun not intended!) BY FAR came from Gayna Collis and her girls.

Thank you to EVERYONE who showed their support!
